Program Note

 

This combination of Canticles from the the service of Evensong had long intrigued me, but especially so as I gained an intimate understanding of the service through my work as a staff singer at Trinity Church in the City of Boston. The two parts of this service music were written on either side of a Summer 2010 English tour with the Trinity Choirs, where we sang daily evensong at the Cathedrals in Ely and Chicester. 

 

While on this tour, my sister died, after a prolonged illness. The Nunc Dimitis is dedicated to her memory.
