Program Note

The Prayer of St. Bonaventure was a sprawling choral piece written in the likeness of Britten's Hymn to St. Cecilia. Completed in October, 2007 in Newton Massachusetts, the complete work was premiered the following April.  A year later, this piece and My heart ever hungers were extracted into separate motets.

Primarily homophonic, this motet employs an essentially tonal, modal structure, making it readily usable by choirs of all ability levels.
