Program Note

The Prayer of St. Bonaventure was a sprawling choral piece written in the likeness of Britten's Hymn to St. Cecilia. Completed in October, 2007 in Newton Massachusetts, the complete work was premiered the following April.  A year later, this piece and Be Thou Alone were extracted into separate motets.

A ground bass and expansive harmonic language propel this devotion from the Prayer of St. Bonaventure. A rewarding challenge for amateur choirs and impressive show piece for professionals, this work is appropriate for both liturgical or concert use.
