Program Note

Written in 2005, during a one-year stint in Bloomington, Indiana after graduating from Southern Mississippi. This was the first choral piece I wrote out of school.  It was a deliberate follow-up to Mirabile Mysterium, which it mirrors in form and style.  The text is an amalgam of the "Chorister's Prayer" and Psalm 48, with a Doxology thrown in for good measure.

It was premiered at a service celebrating the legendary Dr. Marilyn Kaiser, and her twenty years of service leading the music department at Trinty Episcopal Church, Bloomington.  Both my wife and I sang under her during our time in Indiana.
